I miss you. I burned myself out just doing way too much so in September I just dropped it all completely. I think I'm ready to come back if I can even remember how to scrapbook. I'll be giving it a try after Christmas. It'll be a bit harder now since I gave my craft room to our boy for his bedroom.

My Creative Scrapbook - (belated) July - Limited Edition

Here is some work from My Creative Scrapbook's July Limited Edition kit. I know it's not July anymore...that month seems to have slipped away a little bit quicker than I would have liked (along with the first half of August)! I also have more to post for July plus August work is ready to go to so I will have lots of new posts this week to make up for the absent July!

My baby: My sweet wee boy. There once was a time when every single page I made had tags on it. I felt like going back to those days for this layout and used some little tags I made from pattern paper. There's lots of fun fussy cutting on this page topped with Stickles of course :)

H&G (Hudson & Grace) Hudson loves his Auntie Gracie and Auntie Gracie loves her little Hudson Bear. I snapped this photo of last minute cuddles before Grace went off to work at camp for the summer.

Make a wish: this is a photo from last year. I have a ton of these types of pictures because Larissa loves to blow wishes. Lots of fussy cutting on this layout too. There's always lots of fussy cutting when Websters paper is around :)

Everlasting Love

Here is some more Prima work for you (winter CHA 2011). I told you I had lots to share and there is lots more to come! This is a picture of Larissa & Min last fall. Just a day or two after this photo, Min fell very ill and we thought we were going to lose her. She is 14 years old and she refused to move, eat or drink. We said our goodbyes and took her to the vet for what we thought was the last time. I was rather hysterical. Imagine how happy I was to leave with a bottle of antibiotics, a $50 vet bill and the promise of healthy dog real soon. After a little tlc, like giving her water by syringe, we had our ole Min back in just a day or two. So our beloved Min, although 14 years old is still running around and extremely healthy. She really is the perfect family pet.

I stitched this inner circle and then used blue Stickles in between each stitch.

I just love using these funky metallic leaves on my pages.

And lastly, here is a set of altered jars that I made using some old ice tea bottles.

This is another layout that I created for Prima Marketing (winter CHA). Time take to smell the flowers - this is not really advice I need to give to Larissa. She is always taking time to smell the flowers (and weeds) and pick just about anything that grows. I just love that she gets so excited about it. She loves to point out when the cherry trees or weigela are in bloom. My kitchen table is almost always adorned with a plastic princess cups filled with weeds or flowers of some sort.

Lupin Lane

This is where I live. {Prince Edward Island} I'm pretty convinced that I live in one of the most wonderful little spots in the entire world. Then again, I've never really left to see the rest of the world so what do I know? I don't really care to leave...at least not for more than a week or two at a time. In June the lupins come out to bloom. They fill up the ditches and the edges of fields. They overlook the cliffs and dunes at the ocean and they just make this Island that much prettier. A dear friend once told me that as she and her family crossed the Confederation Bridge and entered PEI, they could smell this smell.... I piped up "Was it pesticide sprays from the fields? Was it smell of deep frying french fries from the processing plant? Was it manure on fields?" No, she told me it was a beautiful fragrant, flower smell that was everywhere. It was lupins. It's funny how sometimes when we are surrounded by great beauty all the time we need to have it pointed out to us by someone who is discovering it for the first time. Lupins come in a several colours,. Here we mainly see pink, white and lots and lots of shades of purple. So, here I am again, showing you a purple page even though I avoid it like the plague in scrapbooking. I think it works for this page though ;)

This is Larissa in front of our house this time last year. I would love to get some new lupin shots this year but we had a torrential downpour yesterday and most of the lupins were flattened. They'll be back up and spry in a few days again so I'll wander out with my camera and get new photos. This time with my baby boy in there too :)

I created this layout for Prima Marketing. The purple fabric trim is one of the prettiest scrapbook embellishments I have ever worked with (even if it is purple! LOL) There were so many pretty little bits that I loved from Prima's winter CHA release, some of which are metal/glass trinkets and crochet flower centres. I'd link 'em up to Prima for you but that portion of their site doesn't seem to be working at this time.

My Big Strong Boy!

My Big Strong Boy: My boy is strong indeed. One of the first things I noticed the day he born was that he was putting weight on his legs when I held him against my chest. So it comes as no surprise that at the ripe ole age of 3 months he is just raring to go. He loves to stand upright and just holds a finger or two for balance. I have a feeling this 'little' man will be walking sooner than later.

I really enjoyed working on this 'real boy' layout. I know I have done other pages of my boy but this is the first one where I have picked/bought my own supplies instead of working for a DT. I really love these colours from My Minds Eye Alphabet Soup and I see a lot more MME in my (and my boys) future. I really loved the little monster chipboard that came with this line. I think the little blue monster looking an awful lot like Hudson LOL

Little Tip: One thing you may have noticed is that if you look closely you will find in a number on most of my pages. It may be the date, the number of people in the layout, the age of the person in my layout etc. If the number is on something like this ruler, I like to accentuate it by circling it, underlining it or drawing attention to it in some way. In this layout, I used an off set circle to draw attention to the 3 and wrote the word 'months' on the circle.

a small but useful project

I was recently spring cleaning my daughter's bedroom while she was at school. There are lots of baskets, containers and toy boxes in her bedroom but there was a need for small containers for storing her more 'precious' items. Precious things like her Pez collection, magic wands, silly bandz, lip gloss, body glitter etc. I wracked my brain and then I remembered some little containers that I had tucked aside some time ago. I pulled out some old Betty Crocker (or Duncan Hines) icing containers that used to look like this before all the yummy contents were gobbled up.

They were already washed up with the labels removed just waiting to be put to good use. I pulled out some scrap paper and went to work on this simple little project. I used Crate Paper's Paper Doll Collection. It was an easy choice with the little dolls, purses and matching patterns. All I did was use one simple band of paper wrapped around each container. I used Fabri-tac to adhere the pattern paper to the container. At the top of each container I adhered a simple piece of lace, again with the Fabri-tac and voila - instant gratification and instant organization! When Larissa came home from school she was absolutely thrilled with her new little containers. They made finding her most important little treasures so much easier instead of digging through larger baskets or bins. I also love any project that reduces, re-uses & recycles...go green!!

I think they'll be lots more of these little containers popping up around the house, especially in Larissa's art corner!

My Creative Scrapbook - June Limited Edition Kit

I have SIX layouts that I want to share with you that I created using this kit! I even created some cards with the leftovers but I didn't get them photographed before I gave them away. Actually, that's a lie... I did photograph them but the photos are too awful too use and since the cards are gone...

This kit featured Crate Paper's Portrait line which is a wedding theme but that doesn't limit you to wedding layouts. You can use it for just about anything. I just love this eclectic mix of colours and patterns. Right now, I'm feeling much love for Crate Paper and that much love had me not wanting to put this kit away until I used up every little scrap!

Happy Day: This was indeed a happy day. We have had a very sad little spring here on PEI...cold, RAINY and rainy. Did I mention it was rainy? Yes, well 27 days of rain in May. Gross eh? So when the sun finally graced us with her appearance we took full advantage of the free vitamin D and hung outside for a while and that's when I snapped this sweet photo.

Nanny's boy: Little Hudson and his Nanny (not Nanny as in live-in caretaker, Nanny as in Grandmother) I loved all these pattern so much that I cut up little 3x3 squares and arranged them on a circle and 'quilted them' in a very rough fashion. The circle looks a little wonky and egg shaped here but that's just my bad photography skills of the day. I swear it's round and pretty in real life!

Family of 4: YAY!!!!!!!! I am so so happy to scrap this photo. I (we actually) waited for this moment for so many years. This photo is so precious to me. The journaling reads "They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This picture says happy a thousand times" When I was thinking about scrapping this photo, I just knew I wanted a big 4 on it. 4, 4, 4!!! There are 4 of us now in our little family and it makes me so happy :D

Big Little Girls: Kind of a strange title eh? I should explain. This is Larissa and her little cousin. They look so grown up in these photos and as I was thinking that I realized that in a very short time I will be looking at these same photos and thinking 'wow, they are so little'. Time just goes by so fast!

Wishes for you... happiness. That's what I want for my little boy :) I love this picture of him cuddled up in my arms and his hands in his mouth (a constant these days)

3 months: Just a simple layout to keep track of Hudson's accomplishments at this age. I just loved this piece of calendar pattern paper and thought it was the perfect setting for page about age :)

My Creative Scrapbook - June Main Kit

Hi everyone! I wanted to share another kit with you today. This is June's Main Kit from My Creative Scrapbook. I was so happy to get this kit. I had been wanting Basic Grey's Sweet Threads for some time so I was excited to finally get to work with it. I find all the patterns in this line are fairly similar so I used white cardstock to balance things out a little bit. My fellow design team members came up with some gorgeous designs with this kit (as usual!). You can check 'em out here!

Sweet Words: "Baby Hudson is very very cute" Larissa certainly loved her brother and was convinced he was cute even before he was born. She had written this note on her little magnetic doodle about a week before he arrived.

Tender Kiss: Little Baby Hudson has had no shortage of kisses. Larissa peppers him with her love daily...many times a day actually. She doesn't even mind when he is crying. I am continuously surprised at how patient and kind she is with him. He couldn't ask for a better sister.

Little Sprout: I just love this die cut that came with the kit that says "little sprout". It's the perfect title for my little sprout hard at work planting her seeds. This girl has a true passion for gardening. Her favourite Easter present was some child sized gardening gloves (found at Michaels...that is the Easter bunny found them there of course). She received some little seed kids in her Easter basket: sunflowers, green beans and birdhouse gourds. After totally gorging on her Easter treats the first thing she wanted to do was get to work with the planting. I really liked the flowers/greenery stickers in this kit and used dimensional adhesive (pop dots) to lift them off the page so they would stand out more. The offset circle in the large scallop die cut were easily made using two circle punches.

My Beautiful Sunshine: It was so beautiful to get a day in the sun after 27 days of rain (ACK!!) To celebrate we basked in the sun and pranced about in a field of dandelions behind our house when I snapped this photo of my little ray of sunshine :)

a FABULOUS mini-album!!

I have an absolutely Fabulous mini-album to show you today!.No, I'm not bragging that it's fabulous, that's just the title :) I created this entire album using My Creative Scrapbook's June Album Kit. I had more than enough supplies to decorate all 12 pages in this mini plus I made a 12x12 layout with the leftovers. I could have even made another layout but I ran short on time, so I saved those supplies for another day, another layout.

It's been a few months since I created a mini so I thought it would take me a little longer than usual to create this one. Usually when I have been away from my projects for a while they take a little bit longer to get back into but I was wrong on this count. I finished this mini album in a little over 24 hours. I thought that was rather impressive since I could only work on it while little Mr. Hudson was napping or sleeping. I was enjoying working on it so much that I stayed up quite late one evening not realizing the time.

This kit featured Teresa Collins Posh. PINK~BLACK~WHITE... Perfection!! I had a lot of fun with it. Here are the pages!

This is layout about my wanna-be ballerina. She has the costume and she is constantly begging me to put her in lessons. I've hesitate to do so because I wasn't sure she'd really like ballet especially after the fast pace of hip hop and step lessons that she has taken the past couple of years. I think she's now proven to me that she would really enjoy ballet. She 'practices' several times a week Swan Lake and Nutcracker music and imitates their moves. So hopefully this fall we'll find a program that suits our little would-be ballerina :)

My Creative Scrapbook - May Reveal

I have two kits to show off for My Creative Scrapbook. These layouts were done with the Main and Limited Edition kits. I have to say that I am a little rusty after taking a few months off. It took me much longer than usual to create these layouts and I don't really feel that they are quite up to my usual work. I'm not stressing about it too much... it just takes a bit of work to get back into the groove of things.

Limited Edition Kit

Swing- Larissa just loves to swing which is evidenced in the many, many, MANY photos I have of her happily swinging. She especially loves it when we push her good and high! To mat my photos, I cut the doilies from the Pink Paislee pattern paper and used the Pink Paislee packaging. So many companies are making beautiful packaging lately (Prima, Pink Paislee, K&Co...just to name a few) that I think it's a shame to let it go to waste. I don't care that the company or product name is visible or anything like that. I think it adds character to the layout. I'm quite confident that if you weren't a hard-core scrapbooker you wouldn't even notice that packaging was being used because it's just as pretty as the papers and embellishments :)

I love to dress up fussy cut outs with liquid pearls and Stickles. To me, it's not finished until it's glitterfied! (I think I may have made that word up)

Big Sister Soon - this is a photo of Larissa showing off the baby's first photo. She was very disappointed in the ultrasound photos. After the third time of bringing home new ultrasound photos she said "oh Mama, is it a real picture this time or more pictures of a bean with arrows pointing to it ?" LOL (this girl always keeps me laughing)

(FYI - I used my own American Craft Thickers for this layout - they do not come in the kit)

I just loved the Basic Grey lace paper that came with this kit but the colour didn't really work with what I was doing so I flipped it over and used the back (white) side.

6 days new - I just love this photo my sister took of my new little boy. It looked pretty with the pale pinks and greens. I am totally ok with using pink on boy layouts, especially for baby photos. Oh I just love this little face so much...lucky me, I get to kiss it all day long!! :)

I used Pink Paislee packaging twice on this layout and tied ribbons in the holes at the top of it.

Main Kit

Meeting you - This is one of the first photos of me and my little boy. I was out under general anesthesia when he was born so I didn't get to meet him for quite a while. Meeting him was such a beautiful moment ... a beautiful moment that I'm glad to have on camera because I barely remember it all thanks to oodles of drugs LOL.

I used embroidery floss to add stitches and then glued pearls to each stitch using Ranger's Glossy Accents.

This is home - This photo was taken in the first few minutes of arriving home with baby Hudson. Larissa was so happy to finally have full access to him instead of short hospital visits. This is the layout that I am the least happy from this kit work with and although I don't think there's anything terribly wrong with it, I'm pretty sure it's going to get a major re-do in the very near future. If I don't really like a layout it just bugs me until I have to take it apart and start all over again so don't be surprised to see this photo and title again but on a totally different page.

Asleep in my arms - I had Jason snap this photo of Hudson asleep in my arms. I am enjoying these precious moments so much because I know they go so fast.

Tips

With some Fabri-tac and crystal Stickles I dressed up this flower a little bit to suit my tastes better.

First, grab the centre of the flower, and wiggle it back and forth a bit (like loose tooth) and pull it out.

Use a little drop of Fabri-tac or Glossy Accents to adhere a large pearl to the centre of the flower.

Then use your Stickles to outline all the petals of the flower and leave it to dry. Now you will have a flower that it just dressed up a little bit prettier! :)

This is another tip that I want to share with you that I have been doing for many, many years. This saves bulk on your pages and stretches the paper in your kits just a little bit further. When I decide where I am going to put a layer of paper on, I cut out the paper behind it. Be careful to cut out a smaller piece from the back so that your top layer covers the hole left behind.

I'm back...and introducing my new baby boy

Hello there scrapbookers! It's been quite a long while but I'm happy to say I've come back to land of blogging :) I had given up blogging during my pregnancy just because I didn't feel like it. After working with a computer all day long, the very last thing I wanted to do in the evenings was update my blog or spend any amount of time online. Well now that my baby boy is here, I am on a one year maternity leave so I have a little more time for these things (sorta, kinda... I think... do you really have more time when there's a new baby around??).

Here is a couple of layouts that I did last fall (for My Creative Scrapbook) using Fancy Pants Happy Together papers with my little boy's ultrasound pictures.

Me at 34 weeks pregnant.

Our first family of four photograph taken the day my baby boy was born. Hudson James arrived by c-section, 10:15 am on February 10, 2011, weighting in at ..... are you ready for this....... 11 pounds, 1 ounce. Yes, over ELEVEN POUNDS!! I have to say that was quite a shock considering Larissa only weighed 7 pounds, 5 ounces when she was born. I suppose giving into my pregnancy cravings of chocolate milk and an entire cantaloupe everyday contributed to growing a very big boy!

Here are a few shots of Hudson at six days old. I haven't scrapbooked them yet just in case you are wondering, but I have scrapbooked a few other photos that you will see in a couple of days.

I am happy to be back into scrapbooking (and blogging) so expect lots of posts from me. There'll be new work to post in a few days and lots of posting of the pages I did over the winter and didn't get around to posting before this.

My Creative Scrapbook - Limited Edition kit

I have one more September kit to show off from My Creative Scrapook It is absolutely gorgeous and features Prima's Annalee line. I just love the mix of pinks and blues. I have two layouts to share that were created with this kit but I am not finished with it yet. I have a few cards made from it as well and some uncompleted work that is needing my attention on the scrap table but for now I will share what I have photographed already.

My Creative Scrapbook - Album Kit

I really enjoyed working with this month's album kit from My Creative Scrapbook which featured a ton of goodies from Imaginisce's Birthday Bash line. The album that comes with this kit is just the perfect size and is made by Maya Road.

HER FIRST FIVE YEARS

I can't believe that she has had 5 birthdays already and with a 6th one not too far off in the future. Where does the time go?

Larissa has been carrying this little mini album around with her and 'reading' it. When she first saw it, she squealed and said 'oh Mom, is this for me, about my birthdays!?!? I love it' She makes me smile :)

My Creative Scrapbook - September

Well, hurricane Earl has made his way through the maritimes and with very little damage (at least on PEI). I am forever indebted to this hurricane for taking away the hot air mass and humidity which was stuck over us for almost a week. So today, the sun is shining, the temperature is normal and we are off to enjoy the unofficial last weekend of Summer. Cavendish here we come!

I leave you with another gorgeous (and huge!) kit from My Creative Scrapbook. These kits are always a pleasure to work with and they never disappoint! Check out what my fellow DT members have created as well. I am sure you will find tons of inspiration from their work.

Adorable in every way

This is a photo from a beach trip this spring (yes, the warm weather was here early this year!) I have journaling underneath the bottom lace strip but I had to crop it off out of the photo because my layout was looking a little crocked the way I photographed it.

Note the glittered doily in this close up. I have a tutorial further down in this post showing you how to do this.

I actually stitched on that brown ribbon which something I never do! I would normally use my hot glue gun to make ribbon puckers but the hot glue would have gone right through this sheer ribbon. I placed pearls over the stitches to cover them up.

Rissy's Room

I made this little sign for Larissa to hang in her bedroom.

Heart Leaf

Larissa came in the house a few weeks ago and was very excited to show off this heart shaped leaf that she found outside (on her abenture as she would say...heehee) . She gave it to me and said it meant love :) Ever since that day, she always has a little glass sitting on the kitchen table that is filled with her heart shaped love leaves.

Fly

Fly: This is my little bird showing off her newest tricks on the trampoline :)

Here is a little tutorial on how to create these glitter/inked doilies.

Step 1) Assemble the products you will need. Glitter, ink, spray adhesive, scrap paper and of course a doily! A heat gun is optional but speeds up the process a little bit.

Step 2) Carefully ink the doily. I used pale colours to give it a soft effect. Just dab the doily carefully. Son't sweep the ink pad across the doily because it is delicate and tears easily.

Step 3) After inking the doily to your liking, place the doily on scrap paper. Use a large bag or box so that when you use the adhesive, it doesn't get on your work surface. Spray adhesive evenly over the doily. You will probably want to have a window open during this process because the spray adhesive smells quite strongly.

Step 4) Remove the doily off the scrap paper that was used for spraying the adhesive. Place doily on a clean piece of scrap paper and generously pour glitter over it. Shake off excess glitter and return it to the jar.

Your doily should look like this now but there will be one more step to seal in the glitter.

Step 5) Return the doily to the scrap paper you use spraying on adhesive. Spray another even coat of adhesive on the glittered doily to 'seal in the glitter. Carefully use the heat gun to finish drying the top coat of adhesive. Be very careful not to scorch the doily. (If you don't have a heat gun then you can leave the doily to air dry. It just take a little bit longer that way.)

Her Party

Oooooh... a double layout! Now that's something you don't see too often coming from me. There was a time, about 6 years ago, when all my scrapping was double layouts because I was told that's what I was supposed to do. I'm not one to follow scrapbooking rules so I tossed that idea years ago. Not that there's anything wrong with doubles, it's just I find them quite difficult to do...plus it takes up double my working space! I normally start with a nice clean table but by the time I am done of a layout, I am working with a tiny 12x12 space on my desk.

These are all snapshots from Larissa's 5th birthday last January. There's all kinds of fun here 1) sparkle shoes 2) lots of cousins to share the day with 3) a new Hannah Montanna costume 4) My Little Pony pinata 5) blowing out 5 candles 6) Barbie jewerly box and 7) a very large My Little Pony cake with 5 ponies on it and 8) no party is complete without a game of pin the tale of the unicorn :)

I used bits and piece from Little Yellow Bicycle's Free Spirit line. I was lucky enough to win athis line on National Scrapbook Day. The rest of the goodies on this page are little bits from my stash, American Crafts Thickers, K&Co felt flower and Bella Blvd. papers.

For the misting, I used a sheet of KI Memories lace cardstock as a mask along with a pale pink mist that is a bit of a custom colour. I had Glimmer Mist that was too light and Maya Mist that was too strong so I mixed a bit of both to come up wit this colour.

Sweetness

Here are a few recent pages that I created for the Pink Paislee blog.

Sweetie: Oh my Larissa is a sweetie all right...with a major sweet tooth! She definately gets that attribute from her Daddy and she will do just about anything to get a treat. That's why she loves visiting her grandparents so much...she knows that a few cuddles and hints will usually land her a lollilop or a candy. This photo was taken at my parents place where she was happily leaning against their fridge and enjoying her sweet treat.

Most of the products here are from Pink Paislee's brand new Sweetness line (I LOOOOVE it!). The die cut though, is a halloween die cut paper (Spider's Lair) from their Hocus Pocus line. I used a craft knife to cut out the centre of of the die cut (the web portion). Then I took some pink markers and added a wee bit of colour of colour so it would tie in nicely with the Sweetness goodies. To create the lollipop, I simpy used a Sweetness Doodad with a lollipop stick glued underneath. You can get lollipop sticks at any candy supply store (I bought mine at the Bulk Barn).

This layout was based a sketch from the August PageMaps. I created it for Sketch Sundays at the Pink Paislee blog. It is another layout showing evidence of Larissa's sweet tooth. Her she is on Canada Day enjoying some cotton candy with her buddies.

I am here and still alive! It has been a very busy summer and time has flown by a very fast. The first thing gets dropped when I am busy is my online life so forums, blogs, galleries etc all get a little bit (or a lot) behind. I had several blog posts that were scheduled to go up all during August but if I had have put the correct YEAR on the scheduler then it would have probably worked better. LOL

So, I have oodles and oodles of work to share that I have created throughout the summer. First, these are the layouts that I created with a kit from Let's Capture Our Memories. A little birdie told me that there are a few kits left up for grabs so if you want to you can still get one here.

It's a beautiful day: This was my first time working with Webster's beautiful bloom trims *swoon* I love these! I would happily use them on every single page if I could. I snapped this photo of Larissa while on an evening walk. It looks like a beautiful evening for a walk but unfortuntely it was cut short because of the black flies and mosquitoes that were feasting on us :(

Little Chicks: We were visiting a local attraction and they had these baby chicks. Larissa was just fascinated with them. She spoke to them in a very high tone was trying to get them to come closer to the cage so she could get a better look.

The gate was cut out from one of the pattern papers in the Webster's kit. A wee bit tedious but so worth the effort. I also cut the birdie & tea cup from another paper in the kit.

Roadside View: This is another photo that I snapped while on our bug-infested evening walk. It was in June when all the island ditches are filled with beautiful lupins.

Tiny Freckles

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've blogged. I have tons of work to share so I have lots of posts scheduled for the next several days.

Today I want to show you a layout that I did some time ago but forgot to post. I just had to do a layout about Larissa sweet little freckles around her nose.

I used a few small pieces from Kaisercraft's Devonshire collection which inspired this colour pallette of soft oranges, blues and greens. I only had one sheet of this paper so I cut it up and used small pieces of it around the layout.

To create the mask for the background, I used pieces of a piece of Marth Stewart lace cardstock. I cut the lace cardstock up and taped it to a circle to create this mask. It's not pretty but it does the trick! For the mist, I used a combination of orange Maya Mist and gold Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. I mixed them together in a separate bottle to get this soft orange colour. It worked out just great because one colour was too strong the the other too light but together they were the perfect mix.

I decorated the inside of my circle with layers and layers of cream lace. The masked flowers are bordered by gathered tulle and pearls.

Celebrating Canada

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!

I'm off celebrating Canada Day with my family but I wanted to schedule a post to show you this Celebrating Canada layout that I created using Pink Pailsee's 365 Degrees line. You can find this layout published in Canadian Scrapbooker's summer 2010 volume.

To create the masked title, I used Pink Paislee chipboard alphas. I patted the sticky back of the alphas against a cloth so they wouldn't be quite so sticky. I stuck them gently down on my paper and then sprayed red Maya Mist. I then removed the letters which gave me this neat effect for the title.

Right about now I'm heading down east to watch a small town parade in Cardigan, PEI. Then the rest of the day is filled with BBQs, pony rides, small town festivities and will be wrapped fireworks after the sun goes down. Of course, we will all be sporting our red & white clothes, maple leaf tattoos and flags and there will lots of photos!

Celebrating Crate Paper

I was cropping with some friends at the beginning of May and to make packing light, I just brought the Brook and Paper Dolls collections with me. I had great fun with the playful die cuts and great stickers that came along with the kits. I absolutely love these yellow American Crafts Dear Lizzy Thickers. I think they go perfectly with the Brook collection. Crate Paper has an awesome DT call out right now for all you interested girls. I would totally be interested if I didn't have my hands full already! I was however really excited to stumble across this post on the Crate blog recently!!!

Bounce: Larissa enjoying her 'new to her' trampoline last fall. I was just waiting for some fun and playful pattern paper to go along with these photos and I was quite pleased at how well the Brook papers worked for this.

I spent a good amount of time fussy cutting that branch/twiggy thing from the pattern paper. I attached Kaisercraft pearls to some of the branches for a little added dimension.

There she goes: my big girl got herself all dressed up and ready to move away. She told me that she was off to the big city to get a job. She also told me that she was going to make her own lunch everyday and it was going to have popsicle in it and she was going to eat the popsicle first, before her healthy stuff :D

Pictou, NS: Every summer we make sure to get at least ferry ride back to PEI . We usually stop in Pictou on the way to take a walk around the waterfront front, check out the local tall ship, visit some merchants and most importantly, get an ice cream cone ;)

One Sweet Day

I created this sweet little mini album using My Creative Scrapbook's June Album kit. I had so much fun working with these products. The little wavy edge album is by Maya Road and the paper in this kit is from KI Memories. All these pictures are from an Easter celebration day that my sisters and I put on for our children. We made spring crafts, baked and decorated easter bunny cup cakes and played spring games. The children has a blast and ate way too much sugar!

When I make a mini album, I usually use a whole bottle of Stickles on it. I use the Stickles to decorate all the edge of my book as well as the embellishments and flowers on it. I often use it to accent the pattern on papers as well. I will usually do one side of all the pages and let them dry overnight and then come back in the morning and glitter up all the opposite sides. My most favourite stickles are Crystal, Stardust, Diamond, Cinnamon and Fruit Punch.

my eyes are turning green

I made this layout for Monochromatic Monday at Pink Paislee this week. I chose green for this monochromatic layout because I knew the title was going to have the word green in it and I thought it would be a nice little touch. I had a lot of fun mixing elements from both the Queen Bee and 365 Degrees lines.

I called this layout “My eyes are turning green”. Larissa has beautiful blue eyes. She was lucky enough to get those from her Daddy. Well, since Mommy has green eyes, she wants to have Mommy’s eyes and she keeps insisting that her eyes are going to turn green. When she eats broccoli she thinks the more she eats, the greener her eyes will turn. (I don’t say too much about that because I do want her to eat lots of broccoli!)

Barbie Jeep

Larissa was gifted this Barbie Jeep from one of Jason’s coworkers who had daughters that outgrew it. She just loves it. It has a little stereo in it that plays little Barbie tunes and she drives it all over the yard, waving to us like she’s the Queen.

I had a lot of fun making this layout. I was inspired to create it when I was dismantling some old kits and came across some Bella Blvd goodies and huge page of fun and PINK supplies. To get the background, I used a piece Martha Stewart lace cardstock as a template and sprayed Glimmer Mist over it. I use transparencies to create layers. It was bit of a different use for transparencies than I a normally use. I have a new little detail that I am adding to my page.... from now on, all my buttons will have thread in them! I used to never thread them but then I did it for a recent sewing layout and I loved the extra little touch it added. Of course, then Cindy said she can't stand when buttons aren't threaded so that just convinced me it is the right thing to do!! My other new favourite thing is Ranger Liquid Pearls. I love to use them to accent fussy cuts, edges, flowers...just about anything that you would use Stickles on. I'm going to have to hunt down more of these little precious bottles becuase I know that I will be going through a lot of them!

it's been a while!

Hey everyone, sorry for my long blogger absence. I have been a busy bee. I have oodles to share but have just been so busy that I haven't had much time to get online and keep with with sharing scrappy goodness.

I just have to show off this amazing June Limited Edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook. It is a beautiful mix of Girls Paperie and Prima....WOW!! I made four layouts with it and still have a ton of product left to play with. Check out what my fellow DT gals have created with it as well.

Adore: There is just something so cute about kids playing in laundry baskets don't you think?

This girl loves to colour: Oh boy, does she ever. She was playing in the park and then just plopped herself down on some grass and pulled out her colouring kit. I think Mama's crafts may influence her just a bit ;)

Lucky (to have you two) This is a photo of DH and Larissa playing Dora memory cards on a Sunday morning on the livingroom rug :)

I just love when Larissa folds her hands like this. I swear she was born this way...since day one she has clasped her hands together like that, especially when she is sleeping. She is being so sweet in this photo because she was actually begging for candy.... go figure eh? heehee

Let's Capture Our Memories

I wanted to share another kit with you. This is the March kit from Let’s Capture Our Memories. I was really excited to working with the Material Girl papers from Cosmo Cricket.. Oh and this is aqua Coredinations cardstock with the dot print... oh la la.... this was my favourite part of the whole kit. I used my Making Memories sanding block to give the entire sheet of cardstock a good sanding so that the pattern would show up even better. I really need to get my hands on more of this paper. There are still a few kits here if you want to grab one!

Larissa has been wanting to learn how to sew. She had been asking me for some time but we just didn’t seem to have the time. Recently, she had a hole in one of her little shirts so we sat down and I taught her how to sew. I just couldn’t believe what a natural she is. She threaded the needle by herself and after I showed her a basic stitch a few times, away she went. She sewed the hole in her shirt completely by herself! I am so proud of her. Now she is wanting me to find more clothes with holes in them... I was actually a little paranoid that she would be making holes in her clothes just so she could sew them up. She has big aspirations for a 5 year old. She wants to learn to sew on a button and make a blanket too. My sewing skills are pretty elementary. If she keeps this up, she’ll surpass my sewing abilities by the time she reaches 6 years old.

This Crafter's Workshop is one of my most used scrappy tools. I use it on almost every layout. It sure beats running around the house and looking for plates and lids of various size LOL (I just know you have all done that at one point). If you don't have one of these templates, I suggest click on over to Scrapbook.com and order yourself one. You won't be disappointed. Yes, you have to draw your circle and cut it out but that is easy peasy! The template is see through enough that you can see what you are doing. It's light-weight, flexible and easy to take on the go. I total must have in my books. I used it to draw the circle on this layout before I stitched it.

abc, 123: This is my little miss sitting down at the kitchen table and doing her 'school work'. This is something that we have been doing since she was 3 and she absolutely loves it. We do abc's, 123's, beginner reading, critical thinking and reasoning skills, colours and shapes. It's something I started just to get her used to sitting still and concentrating on her work. We used spend about an hour a day when I was staying home with her. Now that I am back to work, we just squeeze it in when we have time here and there.

I used a new product on this layout. Smooch Spritz is another another misting product. I would compare it best to Maya Mist as the pigment is very strong. It has a lovely shimmer and it is a great quality product but I found the price point to be a wee bit too high. The other small drawback is that the bottle is actually glass and I was warned they are do easily break., although I haven't managed to break mine yet. That is not a mess I would fancy cleaning up after. I think I would buy it again if I found it for a more reasonable price. (I paid $9.00 for my bottle... and now that I see it at scrapbook.com for less than $4. I feel like I was jacked!)

Crafty Kid: Well of course I have a craft kid! I know you expected nothing less. This girl has a craft supply to rival most adults and usually dips into her supplies on a daily basis. Some days her Daddy even sits down with her and helps her out. Lucky girl I say :)

Limited Edition Kit - My Creative Scrapbook

My Creative Scrapbook's May Limited Edition kit is another stunner! It is just filled packed with Fancy Pants Road Show including several beautiful transparencies, one of which is flocked! This kit has my all time favourite Prima flowers. The small pink ones and the beautiful whispy aqua ones. Ah but if only it was a magic kit and each time I reached in the bag more flowers would keep appearing :D

34: yip, that's my age *sigh* ..it's creeping up there now. DH, Larissa and Keaton baked me a cake for my birthday. I had to hide out upstairs (in my scraproom of course) while they baked it. It was fun to hear the kids impatiently waiting for it to cool down so it could be iced....and so it was iced while it was still a little too warm. LOL We had to light the candles several times so they could take turns blowing them out.

I left parts of the transparency without any backing so it is see-through which looks really cool when holding it up around a window... doesn't really show up in the album too well though.

Sleeping Beauty: This is Missy Rissy after a hard day's play. About once or twice a week she falls asleep in the car on the way home from daycare. I carry her in from the car and lay her down on the couch. When her Daddy gets home from work, he carries her up the stairs and she sleeps through right to the next morning. Yes, that about 13 hours sleep. She has always been a really good sleeper and now that she doesn't nap she seems to need a couple early evenings like this to catch up on zzzzzz's.

and a little tip for you....

It's really easy to create a lacey paper ruffle border for your layouts. First, cut 1" strips from pattern paper. I used the Martha Stewart doily punch here. After the strip was all punched, I accordion folded the entire strip. This is a really forgiving technique so you don't have to be overly fussy or even. Unfold the paper and adhere your lace paper to the layout. I used hot glue to attach the paper ruffle to the back of my layout.

The greatest of these is love: This is another page for the wedding album that I am creating for my brother and his beautiful wife. I am slowing picking away at getting this done but I need pick up the pace a little since they will be coming home for a visit in about 6 weeks!

And lastly, a little card that I made to have on hand for a wedding. I used some glimmer mist up in the corner and used a doily as a mask.

Now hopefully this is the last post where my white backgrounds aren't really white in my photos. I'm sure you have noticed how they are blue-ish or grey.... well one of my lovely sisters has promised to show me how to make them look proper white with a little photoshop trick. I am anxious to learn this because the not-really-white white has been driving me crazy!

My Creative Scrapbook

It's time to show off another album kit from My Creative Scrapbook. This month features papers and embellishments from Basic Grey's Green at Heart line. Before seeing a kit from My Creative Scrapbook, I never would have believed that there would be enough goodies in one kit to do a whole album.... well, now I know different! I made this mini album with lots of supplies to spare. These kits are absolutely jam packed.

The album that comes with this kit is a Maya Road bird cage... and it's just so fun to work with! I called this mini album Darling Anna and it is a gift for my sister. My sister has been focusing on her photography business and raising her three children so she hasn't had time for scrapbooking. Miss Anna needed a little scrapbook of her own so this was my little contribution.

Achieving this look with the paint was a total scrappy accident. I originally painted it brown but found it was too dark and just blah. I took some hot pink paint and flicked it across the brown painted chipboard so that it had pink splotches. Then I decided that I didn't like the brown and I wanted to paint it white. When I started to paint it white, my foam brush was much wetter than I realized so it was giving me a very white washed effect which I loved! I continued to paint the rest of the cover with the wet brush and I really like the finished product. After the paint had dried, I used Diamond Stickles and brushed them over the painted chipboard. (yes, and by brushing the stickles on, I mean that I smeared them on with my fingers LOL)

To achieve this pinched ribbon look is really easy. All you need is your trusty hot glue gun and low temperature glue sticks. I always buy the low temperature ones because it saves me from blistered fingers! I quickly run glue along the back of the ribbon and as I lay the ribbon down, I pinch it as I go along.

Changing the colour of your cardstock alphabets is really easy. Just take a marker and colour the letters while they are still on the backing, wait a couple of minutes to make sure they have dried and voila...brown letters (or whatver colour you chose).

This tip is to show you how I used the rubons from this kit to create embellishments. First, transfer your rubon to cardstock or pattern paper.

Fussy cut around the edges and voila, you have an embellishment to add to your page/album. The great part about using your rubons on pattern paper or cardstock instead of directly on your page/album is that you can give it dimension, have it coming off the edge of the page/album, layer it and embellish it much easier.

My Creative Scrapbook - May

It's time for another My Creative Scrapbook reveal!! May's main kit features Little Yellow Bicycle laundry line with beautiful spring accents. I really enjoyed the yellows and blues in this kit. The yellow die cut that came with this kit is one of my favourite shaped papers that I have ever worked with... I was secretly wishing the kit came with 3 of them!

Just Us: I snapped this photo of Larissa and her two little cousins on Easter day... yes, look at what these kids are wearing at the first of April!!! Usually the first of April we are still getting snow storms but this year we had an exceptionally early spring :)

New Ride: This photo is from early on Easter morning. The Easter bunny brought her this pink John Deere bicycle to play with. I really love the addition of the doilies to this kit. I used glimmer mists and chalks on them.

Egg Hunt: I am just now realized that all three layouts have photos from Easter day. Yes, I took a lot of photos that day! This was Larissa's very first outdoor Easter egg hunt. Actually, I don't remember anyone ever having an outdoor hunt on PEI before!! After this spring we will surely be spoiled and hoping we get more springs (and Easters) like this one was.

Happy Mother's Day: I am sure you can guess the purpose of this little card. I'm always frantically trying to whip up cards at the last minute so it's great to have this all ready to go with my mothers present on Mother's Day (along with her canvas as shown in my April 30th post)

Lovely Prima

Oh Prima, I think you all have a pretty good idea how much I love Prima products and how much I would love to make their DT. I know it's a long shot but I just had to toss my hat in the ring. Here is a little keepsake project that I created to send along with my application. It is made from watchmaker tins. I covered the box in Prima paper, lace, tulle and then used cut Prima blooms all along the edge of the box. Each tin is lined with Prima paper and most have a flower in them. Some have chipboard accents and pebbles. These little tins for Larissa's keepsakes like her hospital bracelet, first lock of hair, the first tooth she loses (still yet to come) etc.

A grandchild is a gift

I created an altered wall canvas for my project. (yes, a gift for my Mama) It is something that I have always wanted to try but just didn't seem to get it done so I was happy for the incentive to create this. I used a cheap canvas (12"x16") from the dollar store that had a bit of a smooth finish to it. The coating on the canvas worked out great in my favour as I was able to smoosh around mist after I sprayed it on to achieve the look I was going for. I am going to give you step by step instructions so that you can recreate this project. My fellow DT members have done the same on their blogs so that you can replicate any of the projects on the tour!

1) Spray Glimmer Mist and Maya Mist on background. Use a sponge or paper towel to blend the mist colours and smooth/smoosh the ink around. I used red and pink mists.

2) Cut the top 3.5" off the Porch Swing die cut from the Bayberry Collection and adhere the die cut to the right hand side of the altered canvas. I found that my regular adhesive did not adhere the paper to the canvas very well so I used my trusty hot glue gun!

3) Add two 3"x4.25" photos to the bottom right of the die cut.

4) Underneath the photo, layer artisan tape, clear border stickers and pleated ribbon . I used dimensional glitter paint to put a dot in each section of the pleated ribbon.

5) Adhere flowers to the bottom left of the photos. Add three pieces of cork which are slightly tucked under the flowers.

6) Add press ons to the left of the flowers. I set a book under the canvas so it was easier to adhere the rub on. This stopped the canvas from stretching when I pressed on it.

7) Cut a flourish from Bayberry Cottage Flower Garden and adhere it above the flowers. I added Stickles glitter glue to the flourish (Diamond & Onyx).

8) Add title to the top of the die cut. I used Expressions glitter alphabets. I also used a Heidi Swapp clear clock die cut under the title.

9) Add three pieces of cork to the upper right hand corner of the photos.

10) Wrap it up and give it to your Mother with a hand made card :)

Starlight by Pink Paislee

Well this is my little soccer star last spring. She was in a fun little coed group for 3 & 4 year olds and boy were they cute!! They mostly did little games and drills with the ball but they did attempt a scrimmage at one point and it was so funny... the kiddies couldn’t understand why they all couldn’t have a ball.

I am excited to show off Pink Paislee’s new Starlight collection. These new papers were so much fun to work with. I found that many elements from other Pink Paislee lines worked perfectly with Starlight. I used the cork from the 365 degrees line and a brad from the Bayberry Cottage line. For the title, I used three different Pink Paislee alphabets. I applied Stickles glitter glue to the chipboard title and attached a star piece of cork. Instead of O’s in the title, I used stickers from the Starlight collection.

This is the second layout that I did for Scrapbook Dreamer as their April guest designer. To create the background on this layout, I used four different pieces of pattern paper and pieced them together before cutting the shape of the layout. I sure had fun playing with the beautiful Webster's trim that Scrapbook Dreamer sent me! The little brown dots along the die cut were done with cinnamon Stickles.

These snapshots are typical of Larissa's clothing choice... wings, ballerina tutus, plastic jewelry...she has a very unique sense of style!

I created these leaves but cutting out leaves from pattern paper and using my hot glue gun to adhere the green ribbon around the edges.

Scrapbook Dreamer

I was recently asked to be a guest designer for Scrapbook Dreamer. They sent me some beautiful supplies to work with and this is my first layout for them. The paper, trims and alphas here are Webster's Pages, Postcards from Paris. When I saw these papers, I just knew what photo I was going to use. I had visions of cutting the hot air balloons from their pattern paper but I couldn't seem to work that into the layout. The base of the layout is pattern paper with a layer of printed vellum over it. My favourite part of this layout is the loopy pink trim! I'd use pink loopy trim on every layout if I could get away with it! To create the photo in the shape of a circle, I printed the photo as an 8.5x11 and used a Crafter's Workshop circle template to trace around the photo. I cut it out by hand inked the edges with Stazon ink. The blue circle layer has glimmer mist on it, thanks to my friend Zoe who brought all her beautiful glimmer mists when she came over to scrap with me! I journaled around the photo in the blue layer.

This photo is from last summer. Larissa and her little cousins were outside playing and started screaming!! I came running but thankfully it was screams of delight because there was a hot air balloon so close to our house. They were hollering at the balloon man to come closer so they could play with the really big balloon. Then they spent the rest of the evening asking me if I could get them a really big balloon to ride around in. I think someone very close to us must own the balloon because we saw it around almost everyday after that first time.

This is My Creative Scrapook's April album kit. It's full of beautiful embellishments and Bella Blvd Estate Sale papers. A really nice touch in this kit was a generous piece of pink gingham fabric. I really enjoy the extra texture it adds to a project.

Well who would have thunk it? LOL Yes, another mini album!! I must admit, I am slowly losing my fear of mini albums. You may even see more of these from me in the future ;) All these photos were from a beautiful MARCH trip to the beach!! Yes, that's right, MARCH! Now that saying something considering I'm in north eastern Canada. One this beautiful day, we spent hours exploring the sea shore, the small patch of ice that was along the shore and the dunes. Normally the entire beach would be snow and ice covered and the water would be still frozen.

Larissa was picking up small ice crystals.... "REAL crystals" as she would call them. I love this age when absolutely everything is full of wonder.

The 3 of us attempted a self portrait...lol..these never turn out but that's ok...as long as we're in there together!

My Creative Scrapbook - Limited Edition

I had so much fun playing with My Creative Scrapbook's this month! It was just loaded with Pink Pailsee Bayberry Cottage goodies, Prima flowers and beautiful ribbon and lace. I made a lot of projects with this kit and still have quite a bit of it left!

More altered jars... these little jars where made from old ice tea jars and now reside in my kitchen. Did you know that to colour the lids black I was using a Sharpie pen. How ridiculous is that!?!! I was at Walmart on the weekend and finally picked up some quick drying black spray paint so it should make my job go a lot quicker next time I make altered jars!

She... makes my heart smile: I just love this photo of Larissa in a little roller coaster at a local amusement park (Shining Waters) last summer. She spent the better part of the morning riding this tiny roller coaster by herself...over and over and over again. It was also the scene of the crime when it was time to leave and she took a massive roll-on-the-ground-screaming temper tantrum. Boy was that embarrassing!

FLY: I snapped this photo of Larissa last spring. She was flying a cheap little princess kite at a church potluck. The Pink Paislee Bayberry Cottage paper just begs to be cut out into individual flourishes. To create the round photo, I printed an 8.5x11 and used a Crafter's Workshop circle template to trace and cut the photo. I was really excited when this layout was the featured layout at 2peas last week!

I snapped this photo of Larissa and DH just before he went on a trip for work. For the centre of the flower, I used a little square chipboard piece from the Pink Paislee houndstooth alphabets. I love when alphabets have little extras on them. I used them on the right hand side of the photos as well.

her first haircut

I created this layout for Pink Paislee using their beautiful 365 Degrees collection. It was created for a Word it Wednesday so I chose the word 'first' to make my layout. Having a little girl gives me lots of firsts to scrapbook. This layout is about her very first haircut recently. It’s hard to believe that Larissa is 5 years old and scissors had never touched her hair. She had long, beautiful hair with ringlets at the bottom. I just knew that after her first haircut the ringlets would be gone so I held off as long as possible. She was a little nervous about it at first, even asking ‘will it hurt?’ She ended up loving the whole experience. Of course, it certainly helped that she was center of attention at the salon and was totally pampered. I still need to do another layout that shows her pretty long curls because I saved little lock of hair from that day. She had about 6 inches or so cut off which still leaves her with hair all the way down her back, just not covering her butt, and without the curls :(

To get the photos shaped like this, I used a photo collage downloaded from scrapbooks etc.

My Creative Scrapook - April

Oh I am so happy April has arrived!!! Usually April on PEI is still VERY wintery with lots of snow and even snow storms. This April has been amazing so far! We were able to have our very first Easter egg hunt outside and it was a beautiful 20 degrees Celsius. A temperature of 20 is amazing since the regular daytime temp for this time of year would be around 4.

I'm excited to show off a beautiful springy kit by My Creative Scrapbook . This is their main kit featuring lots of Webster's Pages goodies. Here is what my fellow DT members created with this kit.
Beautiful Summer: This is snapshot from last summer of Larissa playing at Pugwash, NS beach.

Window Writers: I bought Larissa a package of Crayola window writers last summer and she made it a point to write on the windows everyday..usually while wearing a princess dress :)

Great Aunt Flora: This is my Aunt Flora (Auntie Flower as Larissa would say) with Larissa last summer. I found this sweet photo and just had to scrapbook it. Aunt Flora just celebrated her birthday on Easter Sunday so this is a shout-out to say Happy Birthday!!! :)

This is a mini album that I did for Pink Paislee using their Bayberry Cottage line. I had so much fun creating this. The papers for the base of each page are from the 6x6 paper pad which have the pattern scaled down for the petite size of the paper. I used the 12x12 papers to cut out all the flourishes from the Gazebo and Flower Garden papers.

I created these wintery layouts in January using Let's Capture Our Memories January Kit. If you are looking for an active and wonderful online scrapbooking community, this is the place to go.... lots of challenges, gabbing, games and great scrappers!!

We had such a wonderful and mild winter that we were able to get out on the enjoy the snow on most weekends.

Cold Noses, Warm Hearts: I snapped this photo of Larissa & Keaton after a morning full of downhill sledding. The chipboard snowflake is covered in pink mica flakes. Now I thought glitter was messy but it has nothing on mica flakes!! I think the result was worth the mess though :)

Winter Pals: Larissa with our 13 year old yellow lab mix named Min. I have a hard time getting any photos of Larissa without Min trying to sneak in close to Larissa so she can get patted.

2 in a tube: This photo just makes me laugh. I can just hear these two giggling away as they went down the hill in this tube together. This layout was really fun to make... all the snowflakes are cut from pattern paper.

Pink Paislee Projects

I am so thrilled to be a part of the Pink Paislee team. I am just in heaven working with their products. Here are a couple of layouts that I did for the Pink Paislee blog lately. Their pleated ribbon is my favourite new item from CHA this year. YES, the ribbon really comes this way!! I have had so many inquires about this. It's a brilliant idea especially for those of us who are inept at sewing.

Queen Bee line

Here is another project that I made for the Pink Paislee blog. At Pink Paislee, Mondays are monochromatic ..which I admit, scared me a little bit. But it was quite easy to create a monochromatic layout using the new Queen Bee line. This is Larissa last summer at my brother's wedding. She insisted that she sign the guest register all by herself.

I want to take a moment to wish everyone a Happy St. Patrick's Day! Here on PEI, there seems to be a bit of Irish in everyone, our family included. The height of our St. Patty's Day was a trip to Walmart to buy Larissa some garishly green pants and matching shirt for her to wear to daycare today...as well as shamrock clip-on ear rings with a matching necklace and bracelet ;)

March Limited Edition Kit - My Creative Scrapbook

I am so excited to show off the March Limited Edition kit for My Creative Scrapbook...another kit loaded with fabulous Prima goodies! Here's what have created with this kit so far but I have more work to come...there is just so much in this kit that I feel like I'm just getting started.

A dress that twirls: Last summer, Larissa discovered that when she spun around in certain dresses they would twirl... WOW. She wanted to wear a twirly dress everyday and every where she went she would twirl, twirl, twirl. We was going to an evening event and she was doing her usually twirling on the way when I noticed the sun beams catching in her hair so I was really pleased to have my camera in my purse.

Meeting baby Anna: Larissa is just thrilled with her beautiful new cousin, Anna. Ever since Anna's arrival, Larissa is very curious about babies. She's even been putting little diapers on her doll that she re-named Anna. Right now baby Anna is very sick in the hospital with RSV :( so we are all praying for her swift recovery.

March Main Kit - My Creative Scrapbook

I am so happy! I have my blog all fixed now.....not that it was ever really broken but I thought it was. JJ pointed out to me that I had my editing mode on html instead of compose so that is why everything I tried to edit looked like gibberish to my untrained eye. Now that things are figured out, I can show you the rest of the work I did with the March main kit. I am in love with this kit and plan on making even more with it in the coming week or so.

Girls of summer: I am IN LOVE with this piece of turquoise polka dot paper. This is Larissa and her little cousin last summer :)

Fast Friends: I just love watching Larissa make friends at the beach. Within minutes of meeting this little girl, off they went hand in hand looking for sea shells.

My Creative Scrapbook - Main Kit

Well, there is something wrong with my blog this week. I'm not going to let it stop me from posting but my posting will be a little bit different. I have to post each layout in it's own post because when I'm adding them to my blog all I can see is long codes and no photos...sure makes it difficult in the editing area!

I'm anxious to show off My Creative Scrapbook's March kits. This layout was done using the March Main kit which is soooo loaded with Prima!!! Check out what my fellow DT members did with the kits this month.

I called this layout Special Bond because Larissa and her sweet aunt live very far away from each...opposite sides of this big country. Even though they only see each about 10 days every summer, Larissa just hangs on her every word and spends every moment she can squeeze in. There was lots of cut out work on this one... it took a couple of hours for the fussy cutting so I watched a movie while I worked :)

This is My Creative Scrapbook's Limited Edition kit for February. These Limited Edition kits are always a pleasure to work with. They are always loaded with so many goodies and this one is no exception with some wonderful things like Maya Road kraft envies, Pink Paislee and Fancy Pants paper and of course, PRIMA!

Love Bites: (Doesn't that title just make you burst into singing Def Leppard? LOL) Leave it to my nephew, Mr. Ben, to EAT the photo props :) I have since added journaling to the little space below the photo. Thanks to my new acquisition of red Maya Mist, the trim and the flower on this layout are now red. The trim was originally white/beige and the flower was a pale pink-ish colour.

Little Mama: Larissa tells me that she wants to be a Mommy when she grows up ...awww. It's no surprise though. If you saw how well she takes care of her stuffies (like Blush, the pink dog in this photo) you would see that it's a well chosen path for her. The care she puts into her teddies is amazing...signing to them, cleaning them, feeding them, lots of cuddles and lullabies at night...a great little mama indeed.

Teddy Bear Love: And yet another layout about Larissa's love for her teddy bears. I was doing a little Valentines Day photoshoot with Larissa and her cousin and they wanted their favourite stuffies (favourites of the day that is) to join in on the photoshoot. Let me introduce you to: Blush, the pink dog and George, the curious monkey ;) The trim that comes with this kit is white/beige but a little bit of red Maya Mist did the wonders for changing it to a colour that worked better for my layouts.

And of course, some more altered jars. Are you getting sick of my jars yet? People are always asking me what on earth I do with these ? Some of them stay in my craft room. Larissa claims some... she has one filled with loonies and toonies in her bedroom. I use them in my kitchen, livingroom and hall as little decorations. Sometimes I gift them or sell them at a charity auction. They are always made from jars that I recycle around the kitchen...

The story of hugs & kisses... a mini album

I am really excited to show you this little heart shaped mini album that I made for My Creative Scrapbook using their album kit. This kit is just full of all kinds of goodies that are perfect for making a mini album. It was during this project that I discovered my love for Maya Mist. The trim that is around the front page of the album used to be lime green and with a just a light application of Maya Mist, it became this beautiful red. (I did learn however, if you are in a rush for your lace trim to dry and you decide to use your heat gun to speed up the process - do not set the lace trim on the blanket on your lap when heating it....or you will burn a whole in your blanket LOL! )

And I have to mention that this kit came with a bottle of pink STICKLES! I love stickles...in fact, I used the entire bottle on this album.

I love Valentines Day! I love making Valentines with Larissa, baking heart shaped cookies and doing some fun little V-day photoshoots as well. I really enjoyed working with the MCS kits this month (well, really, I love it every month!) This is My Creative Scrapbook's main kit for February. Here's a peek at what my fellow DT members have been doing with the MCS February kits. I have had a lot of people asking me about how to get their hands on these

Cheek to Cheek: Most of the photos that I used for the February kit are from a fun little photo shoot with Larissa & her cousin. I barely had to bribe them at all....well, except for the big heart shaped lollipop that you will see in the mini album post. They did want to include their favourite teddy bears in some of the photos though.

Just the 2 of us: I am IN LOVE with MAYA MIST! The colours are rich and deep and it doesn't take total saturation to achieve the look you want. I used red maya mist here and some masking with the Making Memories acrylic hearts that came with the kit.

Family: This is me with my brothers, sisters and parents last summer.

And yet another altered jar for my project... a recycled pickle jar actually :)

or I guess you could say I did forget these! heehee I had this post saved but not published. This was the Limited Edition kit for My Creative Scrapbook (January). I hope you enjoy ... and it won't be too much longer before the February kits are revealed. I've been really busy lately so not too much to post here but come next week I'll have lots of new layouts to share.

I just love this photo of DH and Larissa. I called it butterfly kisses and then realized afterwards that she was actually giving him an eskimo kiss...oh well LOL.

Fly: I just love this photo of Larissa swinging at the park last spring. To get this shot I crouched on the group and aiming my camera up. I had to be really careful not to get kicked though!

Enjoy Every Second: I LOVE this photo. Larissa is running through the fields with her little friends after a church potluck. I especially love that one of the little boys has his arms stretched out wide. There is nothing cuter than children running like that.

And lastly, a little wall hanging that has made it's home in my kitchen. "The little things are usually the best things" How true.

My Creative Scrapbook - January Creative Kit

I have another kit to show off!! This is My Creative Scrapbook's January Creative Kit. A beautiful bright mix with tons of embellishments (as always!). Due to some odd postal circumstances (grrrr...Canada Post) I got my kit at odd timing so I didn't have the ribbons/trims, lace cardstock, chipboard or bling but I was determined to make it work anyways! These kits are so jam packed that I hardly noticed and still had lots of leftovers after 3 layouts and an altered item.

Snow Happy: this is a photo from our first snowfall this year (well technically last year now '09) which was way late! Usually this photo would be taken in early November but it was mid December before we got a decent blanket of white stuff.

Snow girl: In most winter shots Larissa has her tongue hanging out...trying to catch some snow flakes :)

Larissa and her cousin Keaton were having so much fun sliding on a non-existent hill in our backyard last winter...even funnier, they both thought they should share one tiny saucer sled.

This week has been a happy scrappy week for me! I was so excited to finally get my chane to guest design for Pink Pasilee. You can check out my guest design work here on the Pink Paislee blog. And then, EVEN BETTER, I got to see my name here. Oh someone pinch me please!! Thank you to my friends for all your congratulations and well wishes...I'm grinning like the Cheshire cat :)

Notes of Love: I dug into my stash and let Larissa and her little cousin Jaedyn make some Valentines for their little friends. (2009)

This Kiss: I was trying to get some cute Valentines photos of Larissa (2009) when she reached down and kissed her little heart necklace. I told her 'no honey, don't do that...smile for Mama'. Well, when I got the photos uploaded, this was my all time favourite of the bunch. I love it when that happens.

Sweet Eats: Nothing is better than eating the treat you just baked and decorated. This was Larissa & Jaedyn's first cupcake decorating experience...it was a yummy one.

Take out box with Pink Pasilee candies...yes, there are real candies in these Pink Paislee wrappers but you wouldn't want to nibble on them since they are covered in hot glue :)

Here are a few good ole fashioned Valentines cards in a cello bag with a topper.

My Creative Scrapbook - January Main Kit

Oh la la!! It's that time again. My Creative Scrapbook has unveiled it's January Kits. Here is the Main January kit featuring the rich tones of Lilybee (my altered jar and some layouts from my fellow DT members are featured on the Lilybee blog). Have a peek at what my fellow DT members have done with this kit as well.

Beautiful Bride: This is my beautiful new sister-in-law. I am making a wedding album for her and my brother as a wedding gift. I hope to wrap that project up shortly (almost done!) So, if you are Jennette & Daniel - STOP PEEKING! lol As for the rest of you - peek away :) The photo here was an artistic shot from their awesome photographer Scott Frank who so kindly let me use some of his photos for this project.

Family Memories: These photos are from our first family fishing trip last Labour Day. I was the hero of the day when I caught a 4lb rainbow trout. I thought little Larissa would be a little freaked out by the trashing fish but she was delighted and couldn't wait to get it home and eat it! I still have to add the journaling on the Tattered Angels card...it looks a little naked without any writing there.

Love: This is another one for the wedding gift. I am keeping the titles pretty plain on these since it's not for me. This is another photo by Mr. Frank :)

Here is a little jar that I made for my altered project. It was formerly a bottle of green ice tea :) I love to recycle glass items and give them a new home. The tiny little tattered angels bingo cards were cut from the packaging of the actual bingo cards. A very green project indeed :)

Happy New Year!!! {top 9 of '09}

It's just about time to leave 2009 and step into 2010. Looking back on what I scrapped in '09 and choosing 9 of my favourite layouts was a lot of fun. I tend to like my newest completed work the best so I really wanted to choose all 9 layouts from my work in the past month. I tried to refrain from doing that though. Here are a 9 of my favourites, in no particular order. I hope you have a healthy and safe New Year and here's to lots of scrapping in 2010!

2009 was the year that I finally dabbled in digital scrapbooking and making my own sketch. I am really glad that I finally took the plunge and learned to do both of these things. It gave me a great sense of accomplishment and helped me to learn photoshop just a little bit more.

My Creative Scrapbook - December's Creative Kit

WOW! That was my reaction when I received this kit!! I just loved working with My Creative Scrapbook's Creative kit. Because of time constraints (no thanks to the post office!) I only managed three layouts but I am not done yet... I fully plan on digging it back out and playing with it some more when I can squeeze in the time.

Peek: Larissa's santa hat was a wee bit too big and she thought it was just hilarious to play peek-a-boo during our little photo shoot. That is fine by me...keeps her interested and smiling :)

I fussy cut out these ornaments, trimmed them in cinnamon Stickles and used pop dots to give them some dimension.

The naughty look: Doesn't that title just say it all ;)

Merry & Bright: I used dug out my Cricut, dusted it off and used to make the snowflake on this layout :)

As of my last post it was quite green here.... well green no more! Today is the second day of a winter storm. We have plenty of the white stuff now and I'm sure we will until at least mid-April. It's time to bundle up my wee one and start snapping some snowy white pictures while we ice skate, sled and make snowmen.

Christmas greetings

I have a beautiful kit to share with you and some belated updates. Usually when I'm behind on updating it's because of a work situation. A few weeks ago I started a full time permanent job. It's quite an adjustment period since I have been home with Larissa for almost two years (except a couple short term jobs). For the past few weeks I have not felt like doing anything remotely scrappy whether online or otherwise. I'm coming around though! Last night I polished off 4 layouts and 3 altered items. I can't show you what I made last night just yet but I can show you the My Creative Scrapbook December Limited Edition kit. Oh how I LOOOOOVE this kit...it's so beautiful and ethereal...the perfect winter kit.

Wishing, dreaming, waiting: This is a photo from last Christmas. This look on her face just reminds me of how hard it is to wait patiently for Christmas when you are a child. I used a large part of a bottle of gold Stickles on this layout alone.

Dear Santa: This is Larissa's Santa letter for this year. She's not quite old enough to write one herself so I did the writing for her while she dictated. I did have her write the 'Dear Santa' and sign her name at the bottom. She also addressed the envelope herself. Before we left to the Christmas parade (where letter carriers pick up the letters) I made sure to scan them so I could keep a copy just for this purpose.

Season of White: This is one of last year's photos as well. Normally, we have a quite a pile of snow by this time but right now it sill quite green around here. This photo was taken shortly after an ice storm last March... if you look closely you can see the ice on the evergreen trees behind Larissa. I absolutely adore the soft colour palette of this kit...the ivory and gold is a beautiful combo.

Christmasy Goodness with MCS - Main Kit

I am so excited to show off the My Creative Scrapbook's main kit for December... talk about Christmas cheer. This kit is AMAZING!! Check out what my fellow design team members created with this kit :) The paper in this kit is really fun to work with ... a shiny, smooth finish and the paper is really thick. I don't think I've ever worked with paper quite like it. (Little Yellow Bicycle)

Delight (2008): I love the look on Larissa's face when she was opening this present :) Too bad I didn't have my new camera in time for Christmas last year... I had to use my dad's little point and shoot so sadly a lot of my photos aren't very good quality.

Merry Christmas: Just a couple of fun Christmas layouts with using pictures from our recent photo shoot. This is Larissa and her little cousin Jaedyn.

Her First Carve....

Well, I called this layout "Her First Carve" (I added the word Her after I photographed it). Carving pumpkins is something that we had been meaning to do in previous years but when DH was potato farming that time of year was just a little too hectic. Now that he's retired from farm duties we have more fun time in the fall so this was the year. I thought Larissa would just love carving a jack-o-lantern. She was so excited to get started but...but....ewwwwww.. there was no way should would touch that" gross icky pumpkin" as she so eloquently put it. The base of the layout (die cut) is Making Memories and the orange lace carstock is by K&Company. The little strip of crossword puzzle paper is by October Afternoon.

Mistletoe & Co.

This is Larissa last December just before we took her to see the Santa at the mall. She had drew him a picture and a card (her present to him). Almost everything here is from the Pink Paislee Mistletoe & Co line with healthy dose of Kaisercraft pearls and a little strip of Little Yellow Bicycle poinsettia glitter lace cardstock.

These little stars are made with Mistletoe & Co. stamps.

I put a little pearl in each star on the die cut and then used white floss to stitch around the border.

It's a little bit of everything... background paper is Pink Paislee (Amber Road Collection), the little die cut and metal 'fall' are Making Memories, the cutouts are from Sassafras paper, shimmer leaves are Scrapworks and there are few more manufacturers tossed in there. This is a photo from a recent fall photoshoot with Missy.

This "Fall" is a metal word by Making Memories :)

More Holiday Work

Our Joy: I had a couple of pre-Christmas photoshoots lately with Larissa so I could make lots of Christmas layouts. This Little Yellow Bicyle paper is really unique. The finish on it is slightly shiny and the paper is really thick.

I used glitter gold embossing powder on these Christmas bells.

Countdown: The little tiny Prima crystals on this layouts are my new favourite scrappy embellishment!

This little mini Christmas tree is made by Maya Road and comes in the kit. There is an extra sheet of plain chipboard in the package so I used it to cut out one more layer..the back layer with the trunk. I thought the album looked more finished with this layer.

After I made this album I couldn't find it anywhere..then I caught a glimpse of it in Larissa's toy wagon that she was pulling around. She never takes anything from my scrap room or craft supplies so I asked her why she had it. "well you made it for me didn't you.....it's mine right" :) Indeed I did make it for her so I had to explain that if she put it in with her toys it would get wrecked so it's new home in the basket with the rest of the mini albums.

Whoooo loves you? This is a layout done with BoBunny and October Afternoon papers. I made this layout at a recent crop. This is Larissa and one her favourite babies, Belle the pink horse.
There is lots of hand stitching on this one :)

The Santa House

It's hard to believe that Christmas is a mere 37 days away! I love Christmas. I am so excited about it. I have been working furiously in my craft room making cards, layouts, mini books, tags, jars, bulbs and much more. I will share some of my projects over the coming days. I also did a Christmas photoshoot with Larissa yesterday to prepare for the FOUR Christmas related scrapbook kits that will be arriving in my mailbox this week.

For now, here is a layout that I did quite a while back but never posted. This is Larissa with the Santa Claus from the mall. Last year was the first time we took her to see him. She was always terribly afraid of Mr. Claus before that. She referred to the mall as the Santa house for months after the visit..hence the title :)

The reindeer (Basic Grey) was naked chipboard. I painted it black and used black Martha Stewart glitter.

*little tip: use Ranger Glossy Accents to adhere your glitter. When it is dry, apply another light coat over the top to seal in your glitter so it doesn't get all over your pages.

Good Monday morning everyone. I have a few little things to share with you today. I would have scrapbook layouts to post except it's dark and deary here...not good photographing light at all.

Here is a card that I made for my SIL.

And a card I made for my new niece Anna. She is two weeks old today.

And here are some vintage-y jars that I made and sold at an auction for charity. The supplies for these jars are from the October limited edition kit from My Creative Scrapbook.
